Toowoomba Regional Council welcomes you to join them on a tour of some of their finest achievements.

Queens Park is Toowoomba's premier formal park. It is undergoing a $12m redevelopment with Stage 6 of 7 currently being completed.

11.15am Depart QUEENS PARK

11.30am PICNIC POINT PARKLANDS

A master planning process for the Picnic Point Parklands was recently completed and endorsed by Toowoomba Regional Council. The Parklands are a key feature of the region's acclaimed Escarpment Parks and will be the centrepiece of a $7.4 million trails, lookout and amenity upgrade project. A funding contribution of $2.7 million from the Queensland Government's Building Our Regions program is an important part of this project.

12.00pm Depart Picnic Point Parklands

2.30pm CITY HALL to HIGHFIELDS SPORT & REC PARK

3.00pm HIGHFIELDS SPORT & RECREATION PARK

HSRP is one of the features of Toowoomba Regional Council's newest 'fields of dreams', the second stage, multi-purpose sporting facility at the Highfields Sport and Recreation Park, north of Toowoomba. Council has spent $28 million in total with an overall contribution of $3.3 million from the state government.

The entire complex has:

  • eight (8) full-size, rectangular football fields with full LED lighting and overflow training space;
  • three (3) cricket fields - two (2) turf wickets and a drop-in fibre composite synthetic wicket which can be removed to cater for winter sports. One oval is larger than the Sydney Cricket Ground.
  • twelve (12) netball courts - 7 hardcourts/5 grass + four (4) tennis courts
  • three (3) modern amenity buildings
  • a district level park playground facility in a protected vegetation area

3.30pm Depart HIGHFIELDS SPORT & RECREATION PARK (HSRP)

3.45pm PEACEHAVEN PARK

A high-profile district park in Highfields with an on-site volunteer run nursery. The park has undergone significant development in recent years and is now a destination for park visitors wanting to enjoy the view towards the Bunya Mountains.

4.15pm Depart PEACEHAVEN PARK

4.30pm 2nd RANGE CROSSING VIEWING (Mt Kynoch)

The Toowoomba second range crossing is a 41km grade separated dual carriageway bypass and partial ring road currently under construction to the north and west of Toowoomba. Construction commenced in April 2016 with an expected completion date in mid-2019. Stunning view of the impressive 800m viaduct that traverses the Great Dividing Range.

4.45pm Depart 2nd RANGE CROSSING VIEWING (Mt Kynoch)

5.00pm Arrive back at City Hall

5.00pm Welcome drinks for PLA Conference attendees - The Annex, City Hall, 541 Ruthven Street
